The Alternatives Exposition website is trying a new self-financing model. We have Google ads placed on the pages to bring in some revenue, but you can make the annoying Google ads go away, by subscribing to the site for a small $1/month subscription cost. (This is charged $3/quarter). Our goal is to bring in a minimum of $40 per month to pay for the web-hosting costs and webmaster support services. More than that is better, of course.

Just remember "Freedom isn't Free" and, if you enjoy what we do at the AltExpo, then please contribute financially through the website subscription.

Straw Bale Houses

Rick plans to give a presentation on constructing straw bale houses as well as ideas about lowering the cost of construction, insurance, permits, design, energy efficiency, and more. A good title for this presentation would be "Alternative Housing Options" or even "Building your Own Alternative Housing"

I'm a Physics teacher in NH who is building a straw bale home in Maine. Always ready to answer your questions! If you are thinking about building your own alternative home I may have some ideas and/or guidance for you. I'm thinking...no mortgage, low maintainence, and low operating costs!
